Seltz is now on Zapier: real-time web data for any workflow

Seltz is now on Zapier. Add real-time news, web search, and people data to any of 8,000+ Zapier apps. Setup, sample workflows, and what it replaces.

You can now use Seltz inside Zapier. That means real-time news, web search, and people data are available as actions in any of the 8,000+ apps Zapier connects, without writing code.

Zapier joins n8n in the set of automation platforms where Seltz now runs natively, with more on the way. If you've wanted fresh web data in the tools you already use, Slack, HubSpot, Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Gmail, it's now a single Zap away.

Why this matters: most web data in Zapier lags the web

Web data already lives in Zapier in a few forms. Google Alerts feeds, RSS scrapers, page-change monitors, and a handful of search APIs that wrap Google's index. They work, but they share a constraint: the data is hours to days behind what's actually happening on the web.

By the time your Zap fires, the moment you wanted to catch is already over. A "new mention of our brand" alert that arrives the next morning is a daily digest. The same alert that arrives within an hour of the article being published is a response trigger.

Seltz indexes US news within approximately one hour of publication. That happens because the ingestion pipeline is stream-oriented rather than batch-oriented. Documents flow through each stage continuously instead of waiting for a rebuild cycle. The freshness is architectural, not a configuration option.

For Zapier users, the practical implication is straightforward: workflows that depend on knowing what just happened, monitoring, alerting, lead enrichment with current context, can now run on fresh data inside the automation platform they already use.

What Seltz adds to Zapier

The integration exposes Seltz's core actions to any Zap:

  • News Search. Query US news with optional date and source filters. Returns full articles with metadata, not snippets.

  • People Search. Look up current professional profiles by name, company, or other identifiers.

  • Web Search. General-purpose search backed by Seltz's owned index.

  • URL Content. Pull the full content of a specific URL on demand.

Each action returns full documents the way Seltz returns them through the API, so downstream steps, AI summarization, Slack messages, CRM enrichment, work with complete context rather than truncated excerpts.

Live Example: Real-time competitive and brand monitoring in Slack

Trigger on a schedule (every 15 or 30 minutes). Run a Seltz News Search for your brand, a competitor, or a topic. If results are new since the last run, post them to a Slack channel.

The reason to use Seltz here rather than an RSS feed or Google Alert: by the time a Google Alert email arrives, the conversation has often moved. With one-hour freshness, the alert lands while the article is still surfacing on social and in inboxes.

Setup

  1. Install the Seltz app from the Zapier directory.

  2. Connect your Seltz API key. If you don't have one yet, sign up here.

  3. Pick a trigger, add a Seltz action, and connect the output to whichever app you want to receive the data.

The integration is live and free to try on Zapier's free tier. Seltz API usage is billed separately under your Seltz plan.

What's next

Two things on the near-term roadmap:

More Seltz actions in Zapier. As we add new verticals to the Seltz API, they'll be exposed as Zapier actions. The integration mirrors the API surface area.

Templates. We're publishing pre-built Zap templates for the three workflows above and a few others. If there's a workflow you'd like to see as a template, let us know.

For developers and engineering teams building agent workflows directly against the API, nothing changes. The Zapier integration is for the broader set of people, ops, marketing, sales, founders, who want fresh web data in their workflow without standing up infrastructure to handle it.
